tepunuiotoka

Kai kā mauka whakahī, kai kā wai tuku kiri, nāia te tāwhiri o Kāi Tahu ki kā iwi me kā hapū o te motu kia whakaeke mai ki ruka Tuahiwi Marae. Nau mai, tauti mai.

In his closing address at the Hui ā Motu at Tūrangawaewae in January, the late Kiingi Tuheitia said, “Let the four winds speak”, and “Ngāi Tahu, we must come to you.” Ngāi Tahu responded by announcing our hui, Te Pūnuiotoka.

We are inviting iwi and hapū from around the motu to gather at Tuahiwi Marae on 22 October 2024. The kaupapa of the hui are indigenous economics and tribal institution-building. We will use these concepts to discuss how we can harness and develop the practical potential of rangatiratanga, for the benefit of our people, the development of our regions, and the prosperity of our nation.

Our speaker line-up includes representatives from several Canadian First Nations, the Tulo Centre for Indigenous Economics, independent and influential commentators from here in Niu Tīreni, as well as the Ngāi Tahu Research Centre.

Registering your attendance is essential for our preparation. We ask that all delegations register their numbers via this website.

We will also be sharing the link to a livestream closer to the event.
